Need a boost in oxygen? Perhaps you’ve heard of a hyperbaric chamber, most often associated with deep-sea divers. Hyperbaric chambers commonly address decompression sickness, when a diver ascends too quickly from the ocean.
But what if we could offer oxygen therapy to everyday people? Oxygen therapy is a treatment that allows your body to absorb more oxygen than it does from standard air.
At SUMA Life House, this is possible. Our specialists believe our hyperbaric chamber treatment in Greenwich, CT, is the cornerstone of integrative, regenerative medicine—improving our clients’ health on a cellular level and setting the stage for enduring wellness.

What Is a Hyperbaric Chamber?
A hyperbaric chamber is a comfortable, pressurized cabin filled with pure oxygen.
Why pure oxygen? Standard air contains 21% oxygen, 78% nitrogen, and 1% other trace gases. Our hyperbaric chambers, on the other hand, administer extra O₂ to clients experiencing low oxygen levels in their bloodstream, which prohibit the body’s tissues from conducting necessary life processes. This can lead to fatigue, brain fog, or, in extreme cases, organ damage.

Benefits of Oxygen Therapy
Oxygen is the primary ingredient for cellular respiration, when your cells convert nutrients into energy. This energy is used to power the body’s healing process, immune system response, and brain function, for a comprehensive wellness boost.
Healing
Increased oxygen levels prompt the body to release stem cells. These cells are directed to areas where tissues require repair, reducing inflammation and promoting cell regeneration. There, the new blood cells restore your oxygen and nutrient levels for comprehensive support.
Immune System Response
Oxygen also powers white blood cells. When your oxygen levels are low, the body is left vulnerable to germs and viruses. Increasing your body’s first line of defense against infections allows your white blood cells to detect and destroy pathogens and keep you from getting sick.
Brain Function
The brain requires the most oxygen in the entire body and uses the gas to transform glucose into energy. Energy is what helps the brain create neurological signals, sharpens memory and cognitive function, and aids in brain repair.
FDA-Cleared Treatments
Hyperbaric chamber treatment in Greenwich is FDA-approved to assist in treating the following conditions and injuries:
- Air bubbles in blood vessels, which increase the risk of heart attack or respiratory failure
- Severe anemia, when blood transfusions are not an option
- Large burns, often treated at specialized burn centers
- Carbon monoxide poisoning, leading to low oxygen levels in tissues
- Chronic wounds that don’t heal within a standard time frame, often 4 to 6 weeks
- Crush injuries where the limb is at risk for amputation
- Decompression sickness, for deep-sea divers
- Gas gangrene, a type of bacterial infection
- Sudden, unexplained hearing loss
- Osteomyelitis or other serious bone infections
- Radiation injury, resulting from prolonged exposure to high levels of radiation
- Skin graft necrosis
- Sudden, unexplained vision loss
Alongside these approved conditions, we may recommend hyperbaric chamber treatment for anti-aging, sports injuries, or post-surgery recovery.

The Hyperbaric Chamber Experience
At SUMA Life House, we deliver integrative care through best-in-class technologies to help you achieve your aesthetic and wellness goals. Our hyperbaric chamber comfortably seats two guests for up to 60 minutes or one guest for 30 minutes of relaxing.
Here’s what the next steps look like.
Consultation
Building your personalized treatment plan at SUMA Life House begins with a comprehensive, complimentary consultation with one of our specialists. Together, we discuss your wellness goals and medical history to determine your eligibility for hyperbaric chamber treatment in Greenwich.
If we determine that oxygen therapy is the next step in elevating your wellness, we can schedule your appointment.
Appointment
On the day of your appointment, a SUMA Life House specialist greets you and directs you to our hyperbaric chamber. Once you feel comfortable, they close the chamber door.
Pure oxygen floods into the chamber as the air pressure slowly rises. Your ears may feel clogged or start to pop, as they would when flying on an airplane. This is called barotrauma. To relieve this pressure, we recommend yawning or taking small sips of water. Once the pressure breaks, continue breathing normally throughout the remainder of your treatment.
As your oxygen therapy session ends, your specialist gradually decreases the chamber’s air pressure until it returns to normal.
Before you leave our office, your practitioner measures your vital signs, including your heart rate, blood pressure, and blood sugar, to confirm your body has readjusted to normal air pressure.
Results
There is no downtime, so you can resume your normal schedule.
You may experience mild fatigue or hunger immediately after your appointment, which are common and temporary. We recommend eating a balanced meal and staying hydrated to help reduce these symptoms. If fatigue persists, avoid strenuous activity for the remainder of the day, as your body may need more time to recover.
If you experience any new or worsening symptoms, such as persistent ear pressure that does not pop or temporary vision changes, please contact our office. Our goal is to ensure safe and effective treatment; we may pause or cancel your hyperbaric chamber treatment in Greenwich if these side effects persist.
The duration of your results varies, depending on the number of hyperbaric oxygen therapy sessions you receive, but typically lasts a few weeks to a few months. We recommend completing the entire course of your treatment for optimal benefits.

Yes, this treatment can manage symptoms of arthritis, although it is not a permanent solution.

Increasing oxygen levels in the bloodstream supports your immune system and healing processes, which minimizes inflammation, repairs affected joints, and relieves discomfort.
We recommend hyperbaric chamber treatment in Greenwich, CT, as a complementary treatment alongside other arthritis management strategies, including any medication prescribed by your primary doctor. Please consult your medical provider before making any changes to your treatment plan.
